The miniature represents the Emperor Napoleon's coronation in costume, seated on his throne with the circular shaped backrest and decorated with armrests ivory balls. With the right hand he holds the scepter of Charlemagne, and the left, the hand of justice. It is topped with a golden laurel wreath, above his satin tunic embroidered with gold, its purple velvet coat strewn with golden bees, is lined with ermine. On the hood it's also ermine, it bears the great collar of the Order of the Legion of Honor.

Ingres, dated 1806, represents the Emperor Napoleon in coronation
robes, seated on his throne from which one sees the circular file and
armrests adorned with balls of ivory. In his right hand he holds the
scepter of Charlemagne, and the left hand of justice. He is wearing of
a golden laurel wreath, above his satin tunic embroidered with gold,
its purple velvet cloak studded with golden bees, is lined with ermine.
On the hood as ermine, it bears large collar of the Order of the Legion
of Honor. At left, the coronation sword in its scabbard is maintained
by a silk scarf.
