Cette miniature, inspirée par le célèbre tableau d'Olivier Pichat, illustre l'une des dernières visites de Napoléon au camp de Boulogne. On y voit Napoléon sur son cheval blanc, dans sa tenue d'officier des chasseurs à cheval.
C'est en 1803, après que l'Angleterre rompit la Paix d'Amiens que Napoléon prépara la plus importante expédition que l'on ait connu contre ce pays. Près de 200 000 soldats et quelques 3000 embarcations furent rassemblées au camp de Boulogne, dans l'attente d'un ordre d'invasion.
Sentant le danger que posaient les puissances alliées aux portes de la France, Napoléon décida de lever le camp le 3 septembre 1805 pour se diriger vers l'Empire d'Autriche. C'est alors que l'armée des Côtes prit le nom de Grande Armée.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
