French Guard Sailor Saber
This Saber of the Sailors of the Guard is a very specific model with its very curved blade similar to that of a scimitar, which makes the complete equipment of these soldiers even more atypical and also interesting to possess in a collection.
Beware, some sites claiming to be specialised sell this copy as an authentic model.
A little history...
The sailors of the guard, surnamed "the hussars of the navy," were dressed in outfits almost identical to those of the hussars.
On the other hand, they wore epaulettes with brass scales and a saber of a very particular type, with a sharp edge, engraved with the mention "imperial guard". The sailors of the guard mainly fought on land, because of the battle of Trafalgar and the the loss of the French Navy.
